No Joseph, But Still a Victory

The New Revolution were able to pull away with a 2-0 win over D.C. United thanks to brilliant play by Kenny Mansally. We should have called it an award-winning performance as Mansally was voted Major League Soccer Player of the Week for Week 2 of the 2010 MLS season.

The Revs are just one of those teams that always find a way to win.  Their consistency has become their trademark here in MLS.  In this case it was the great play of a second half substitute.

Imagine the squad they will field when Joseph, Reis, and Twellman return from injury.

They have a good mix of youth (Kevin Alston, Darrius Barnes, Sainey Nyassi, and Mansally) and experience (Edgaras Jankauskas, Joseph, Reis, Twellman).

The offseason was a time of change for NE as Steve Ralston left for AC St. Louis and Jeff Larentowicz was traded to Colorado.  Jay Heaps retired after years of service and backup keeper Brad Knighton was selected by Philadelphia in the expansion draft.  It is a good thing the Revolution have lots of depth.
