Carling Cup Match Postponed Due to London Riots
Aldershot Town Football Club informs supporters that Tuesday’s scheduled Carling Cup first round tie at West Ham United has been postponed.
The East London club were contacted on Monday evening and told that all major public events in London were to be rearranged because of the need to focus police resources elsewhere.
While neither the home club or police anticipate any issues around the game itself, West Ham United has to comply with the police request.
No date has yet been set for the rearranged match, but we are advised that West Ham will be in contact with the Football League. There will be a further update for supporters on Tuesday when more information is available.
Many supporters will be disappointed with this announcement, but confirm that the matter is out of the control of both West Ham United and Aldershot Town Football Club.
