Offensive
Bato Radoncic, Rockford Rampage
Rampage forward Bato Radoncic led the Rockford Rampage in the month of January with 18 points and recorded two hat tricks in as many games to end the month. He led the Rampage to a 3-2 record in January (6-5 overall) with one three-point goal, seven two-point goals and one assist. Radoncic ranks second on the Rampage and 10th in the NISL with 29 total points (in 11 games) and is one of just five players who have scored a short-handed goal this season.
Defensive
Genoni Martinez, Monterrey La RaZa
La RaZa defender Genoni Martinez, a five-time League Defender of the Year selection, contributed on both ends of the field as Monterrey went 2-2 in the month of January. He recorded five points (one two-point goal and three assists) in the club’s four games and added a league-leading 11 blocks. Martinez leads the La RaZa and is among the League’s top scorers with 22 points on the season (three goals, 15 assists) after 12 games and leads the NISL with 15 assists, 29 blocks and 64 shots.
Goalkeeper
Peter Pappas, Philadelphia KiXX
Peter Pappas, one of only two players to have donned a KiXX uniform since the club’s inception in 1996 (player/coach Don D’Ambra is the other), enjoyed his best month of the season in January. The 13-year veteran posted a 3-1 record, including a 13-6 win in Baltimore on January 31 in which he stopped eight of the 11 shots he faced, en route to an 8.71 goals against average. Pappas also held the high-scoring Monterrey La RaZa to eight points (13 saves on 16 chances) on January 25, earning the 16-8 victory. On the season, the Toronto, Ontario native holds a 6-5 record and ranks third among NISL goalkeepers with a 10.54 goals against average.
