A young Cobblers side travelled to Long Buckby for the 2009 Maunsell Cup Final. The home side found themselves a goal up after three minutes, Walker sending in a cross from the left wing that took a deflection off the outstretched boot of Paul Rodgers, lopping in over the stranded Paul Walker and into the net.
That lead was doubled on 18 minutes when Quigley latched on to a through ball to fire home, before Walker extended the advantage further on 33 minutes when he scored from 6 yards.
The Cobblers almost pulled a goal back in the closing stages of the first half, but Sebastian Harris saw his header cleared off the line to leave the hosts in control at the break. The Cobblers rallied after the break, and they did get on the scoresheet on 57 minutes, Sebastian Harris reacting quickest to scramble back to his feet and slot home from 8 yards.
Harris was involved in the Cobblers second goal, firing in a shot that the keeper parried on 86 minutes, the rebound falling for youth teamer Mark Withers to score. That set up an exciting and tense finish, but the home side held on the lift the Maunsell Cup.
